Well, for me it's not really about the miles, but the insurance. Right now, my daily driver is broken, so I'm paying an extra 200 a month just to drive my s2000. If not, I usually park it and put insurance on the s2000 on suspension.

But I could see how some people worry about miles though. When I dive my s2000, it's like a special treat, not something done every day.

Cars like the S are meant to be driven...they aren't happy sitting in the garage.

I bought my 06 with 22K miles 8 months ago. I'm now just a little shy of 29K. Most of those have been summer miles since we had a harsh winter and i rarely drove it. I too have a "beater". (93 eg coupe h22 swap etc) Its faster then my ap2 straight line but its just doesnt give me the connection with the road my ap2 does. Since the nicer weather i havent driven the "beater" but a few times around the neighborhood to get the oil circulating.

In about 4 months i'll park it in the driveway with a cover on for nice days and drive the beater. I know that once march rolls around it'll be love allll over again.

A commute isnt fun. So a beater is it. If you truly want to enjoy this car in a safe manner take it to a track or autox. I would prefer to accumulate track miles instead of commute ones. That doesnt mean I dont enjoy this car on the street. You just cant experience this car at 100% on the street. Well you can but you may hurt yourself or others.
This. It's not that I'm saving it. Far from it actually. Personally, I don't understand those that save it for resale value, or to keep it in pristine condition, etc. But driving my daily to work is just as much as driving my S to work - that is to say it isn't fun. Okay, it might be a bit fun and top down cruising is nice, but it all pales in comparison to racing.

I choose my beater for several reasons:

-It's cheaper, it's already paid off, takes regular gas and gets better mileage.
-The drive to work isn't exactly .... exciting. I could really care less what I'm driving in a straight line for 20 minutes.
-My daily is a LOT QUIETER. makes me more sane when I can hear myself think
-I often take more than one person with me at lunch.
-It has a lot more room

I coudl go on and ons
