SC Installed - My Early Evaluation
Got my S back today. It was at St Andre's in Westminster, CA for the SC install. Looks good. I will reroute a few wires and tubes, using more ties to clean it up. The CHECK ENGINE light came on on the way home. Stopped, read the book, drove normally and made it home fine. I found a loose connector this afternoon.
Under hard acceleration, the engine is much louder now - sounds like rushing air noise. I tried two rolling take-offs to third gear. Noticed two big changes. Now the car will actually pull a bit sideways on the first shift. It would leave rubber before, but nothing like now. It's also very easy to over rev now. The engine accelerates and the tach climbs so fast between six and nine thousand rpm that I really had to keep my eye right on the tach in order to not go over.
The car still drives well at normal speeds. I don't think I can tell any difference at all until four thousand rpm. The SC seems to kick in before VTEC, and makes it harder to tell exactly when all the power comes on. Again, the tach is climbing very fast in 1st and 2nd. I'll get a better idea of the power band when I see how the car responds in the higher gears.
I'll have more to say later. I'm going for a drive

I opened the hood this morning and did some straightening up. I did not like the way some of the plumbing was done. I used ties to clean it up and routed things in groups - I can't help it, I'm a neat freak!
For all of you SC owners out there, I've heard about power loss via air leaks. The forced air pipe has two flex joints. The one at the blower itself is easy to unseat - I did it. Look at all the Comptech pictures. The flex pipe is pushed up against the collar as far as it will go. That's not the way mine was installed. I pushed it on all the way and noticed an improvement in performance and the noise level under the hood went down.
I also noticed that there are wires/tubes running in front and close to the belt/drive assembly. I pulled all that stuff toward the front and tightened things up. Over time, I believe that stuff could have came in contact with the drive belt.
I'm going to take a drive tomorrow on some familiar roads - twists, turns, straights, hills, more fun stuff. I've been there many times and will see how the car responds now.
I don't think I'll put the SUPERCHARGER sticker on - I don't like stickers either. So, when my Rick's badges come in this week I'm just going to pretend that "S" stands for SUPERCHARGED!

Does it void the warrenty from Honda?
Also, do you expect the motor to run a normal 100,000 miles?
Thanks in advance..

I've never kept a car for 100,000 miles, so I did not take that into consideration. I think it would depend on how hard it's driven and how well maintained. Boost is not very high - 6 lbs - so, that shouldn't be too hard on the cylinders/rings/valves etc. Others may have comments.
