Scared
Damn.. is it just me.. or after i saw a post few minutes ago about stolen seats and shift knobs from Houston, I'm getting real scared. Even though i don't have a s2k *yet* (planning to get it soon, when i learn how to drive a stick, and my gf gets her own car so i don't have to have a 2+ seater to carry her little sisters around) but this thing abotu the stolen seats from s2k's in apartments/houses/condo's and sometimes in covered areas, are still being stolen. Even ones that are gated! This other person even said he wanted to sell his s2k to get a z4 because he's so tired of these type of things happening. How much do the alarm systems cost anyways? (the alpine/clifford ones) do they void warranties? And do they actually work? So far after reading everything , i like the 170 db alarm system the most, because it'll damage the ears of the theives permenantly.
oh.. and don't forget about the stolen:
antennas
wheels
entire car
air bags
the s2000 emblem
cut opened - tops
gosh.. it seems that everything of the s2000 is worth a lot.
I think we should all send an e-mail to honda about the concerns about the stolen s2000 parts, and put "vin" numbers on seats from now on. *shrug* just opinions from other people on the forum.

Get an alarm. Do whatever you can to protect your investment. But in the end, if they want it bad enough, they'll get it. Kind of a shoddy way of looking at it, but I believe it to be the truth.
I constantly check on my car and people thought I was paranoid. Now i realize i wasn't.

well .... being a seat rip-off victim twice, first thing to get is a garage. If you have one and you can lock it decently, you should be able to sleep at night. If not, forget about the S2K.
Now as with any convertible (except the ones like the slk that have a metal top) you always going to be an easier pick for thieves and vandals anywhere you park. You can install an alarm, but there are no magic solutions here either. However, I personally never had any problems with my S2K except when it was at my doorstep. And believe me it has been parked all over Houston the last 18 months.
But don't forget ... the S2k is one hell of a car and still a lot cheaper than the Z4. For 30k$, you are not going to find anything that comes close to the driving fun you have with this car. Or you should get yourself a Duc916 biposto :-) hehe.
It is just that i had my share of it and with the seats trouble and so, i think it is time "to move on"....hence my thinking about the Z4, but also seen that Mazda has a new RX8 in the pipeline that even looks more like a S2K (but is not a convertable).
So, by the way, mine (red 2001, 16kmiles) is going on sale end of the month. Let me know if interested.
