Just noticed the 80 mph too. Reason he didn't do a lot to correct it was probably because he didn't know what he was doing with a car like the s2k doing 80 in twisties.

Wow. The audio makes this even more gut wrenching.

From the comments he said he broke both his beck and back.

Lift-throttle-oversteer will bite you in any car that rotates, regardless of which wheels it drives.

I track my car regularly and feel pretty confident in my abilities (always learning though). Yeah, I've spun it a few times, but that's why I'm on track. Even knowing the car pretty well in performance driving mode, and although what he was doing was tame in comparison, I still don't do that type of driving on the street as I understand how bad things can get when there is no room to go off safely. Plus, it's not nearly as fun after spending so much time on track.

He did nothing to correct it. He was going into that turn 70+ mph, did not downshift and barely tapped the brakes. This was very very much avoidable. Although he broke his neck and back Im glad he is alive. The car is replaceable and If he buys another S2000, I hope he doesn't do this again lol.

As soon as I saw that it looked like lift off oversteer when he saw the other car and was probably worried about his speed, we will also not know if the road was slippery which could have started it all before lifting, sad times but he is alive.

Seeing these videos does make me wonder if I drive really slowly/cautiously or are some cars just really really twitchy? I have spun once on an autosolo which was me sliding through a section and changing direction 3 times and I didn't catch it.

Right. Lift off oversteer will bite you in the ass in any RWD car if you don't know wtf you're doing at 80mph.

Pulled from the comments:

Omar Taraki 46 minutes ago
yes I try to correct it but lost the rear and the rear tires were brand new bur front was like 30% life, I broke my neck and back,
Edit: After watching the video over and over, I think I see a 35 posted for the recommended speed on the first yellow sign approaching the corner. The driver came in at 75-80 mph around a corner recommended at 35 mph (where 50-55 would have been plenty fast for spirited driving in third or fourth gear)..all while in 5th gear. Big no. And probably doesn't matter what car you're in, just bad driving all around. And looks to me like it was an AP2 not an AP1? Shouldn't really matter though because it was the driving that this resulted from not the car, setup, or weather. Whoever made that comment on youtube you quoted is clueluess.

Glad the driver pulled through, but unfortunate about learning the hard way with a broken neck and back.

It's definitely an AP2. The boy just ran out of talent. As soon as the rear end started to come around he jammed his brakes, over-loading his fronts and pushed right into the weeds.

Seems he was not ready for what happened or experienced enough to deal with it.

I like to think that when I'm travelling at that speed in that turn, I'm aware that the edge is there somewhere.

( full disclosure - I got "caught out" in my 911 at WGI in a drizzle when the track got a little bit wetter each lap until the lap when I spun. Road "looks dry" in the vid however)

Vid shows RPM drop that points to a lift

Hope it works out for him.
