Default Scissor Doors

Just wondering if this had ever been done before? From looking at the S2k design I think it would be pretty easy to do and look sweet as hell......having doors like a lamborghini......i saw it on a 99 cobra mustang once, looked awesome...........could it be done?

Anything can be done with the right compromise/money.

I wouldn't try it because it's a convertible. Too much of a chance for leakage.

there is a company called body werks in the process of attempting this task if i'm not mistaken. you should do a search on them and then try contacting them for more information.

Check out this thread...

vertical doors?

It links to an auction on Ebay for an "HONDA S2000 - VERTICAL DOOR CONVERSION <<< "

One of the posts in that thread also pointed to www.decah.net which had lots of pictures of cars converted to scissor doors. Enjoy.

It's funny, I've always been an advocate of modifying cars to your own specific tastes, and I thought the scissor door conversion would look pretty slick....until I look at the pics posted on decah.net. For me, I would say the conversion only looks good on a car that has lines designed for that look. Civics and such are too rounded of a vehicle to look good with it, IMO. I am curious to see an S2000 with it, though...

I think it looks good on the M3, but it would be very difficult on an S2000 - the doors are frameless. You'd have to construct a partial frame that would be strong enough to take the weight of the door. A massive and expensive engineering task in itself. And then you'd have to worry about crash worthiness.

Looks to me like you'd frequently hit your head on the bottom corner of the door. They just don't get out of the way enough.
