Default Scraped front bumper

I scraped my front bumper this morning pulling too far into a parking space.

I'm sure plenty of you have scraped your bumpers at one point, what have you done about it?

If I install the OEM front spoiler will that cover the scratches?

Yes. A lot of us have done it as well. I haven't done anything about mine, since it will probably happen again.
Yes, the OEM front spoiler will cover the scratches. The only problem is now you have a frontal area lower than original. So, your chances of dragging the front end have increased.

I can't tell you how many times I've done it.
It's a fact of life with this car.

Called a local Honda dealer. They want $495 for the front spoiler. Or, if I want to replace the bumper, they want $750 ($300 for the bumper + $350 to paint and install it)

Ajjra, search ebay for the front lip. There's a dealer in Ohio (I think) that advertises there (and has gotten alot of favorable reviews on this bbs) that is far lower than the $495 you were quoted. Perhaps someone else can fill in the details on this person but I recall it being closer to $300 for the front spoiler. Heck, even http://www.handa-accessories.com/s2000.html has it for $360 painted.

I've scraped my front before too! Put the OEM lip on and now I'ce scraped that too!

Just an FYI, the front spoiler extension comes supplied painted from Honda. H&A Accessories appear to be the cheapest for OEM S2000 parts.

Until you get real good at judging how close to come to a parking block, you'll scrape whatever you put there. If you put on the OEM front spoiler, you'll just scrape something that cost you hundreds of dollars to put on and then you'll worry about that too.
You have a couple of choices. You can get the front lip protector from Coastal Metals (see sponsor list below). It is made of aluminum painted black and has a plastic trim piece on the edge. Relatively cheap and easy to install. OR you can go get some thick (40-80 mil) 3M Scotchcal film and cut a piece or pieces to cover the entire front underside leading edge. This stuff is a sticky clear plastic film that I've used on my last couple of cars and it works pretty good. I didn't mind so much scraping the film up.

i cant tell you how many times i scraped the front bumper even though i have always driven lowered cars that would make contact if i got too close. DOH! anyways, I put a coastal metals lip on the bottom so that if/when i drag the bottom, the lip will take the brunt of the scaping. I also put a vinyl black tape stripe right above it so it coveres the existing scratches. looks fine unless you look for the scratches up close.

What kills me is that I know my car very well. I'm in shock that this happened. I didn't misjudge the dimensions, I was just half asleep driving this morning :-(

I have a feeling that I am going to get the OEM Front Spoiler. I love the way it looks on the Vortech I just saw in Road & Track this month.

Id I order form HandA, does anyone know if the installation is "user friendly"? I not exactly Tim Allen in my garage.
