Default Scraping noises

Hey fellow S2K'ers,

Purchased an used 2002 S2K two days ago and I'm loving every part of it. Pardon the ignorance, but I hear light scraping noises when I'm driving under 15MPH. It is especially apparent when I'm in 1st or 2nd gear and the noise seems to be coming from the center of the engine bay or beneath the center console. I understand that this car has a lot of road noise and is uncompromising to everything but performance, but is it normal? The car vibrates a bit violently during idle as well.

I went through numerous threads regarding the S2K's overall feel, but I'll feel better once I hear from S2K's guru that these are normal characteristics of the S2K.

TIA,
Jeff

Mate, I had exactly the same thing. I thought of it more as a whirring noise, rather then scraping. Real prominent when you first start moving, but kinda goes away as you go faster. Also more noticable when you have the roof up and no music playing.

I've just put my car into Honda to get them to check it out, and they've told me it's the transmission. They need to pull it apart to see exactly what the problem is and what parts need to be replaced.

All up looking at about a month off the road, and at least AUD$2k while they investigate and get appropriate replacement parts from Japan.

So far the $2k is just for labour. I know I'm most probably getting shafted, but for a AUD$35,000 car, I'd rather get the dealership to look after it then someone else.

Pretty bummed that I've only had the car for a month before this happened.

I have squeaking noises somewhere right under the steering wheel. Definite noticeable when roof is up. I brought the car to the dealer to have it checked out. The mechanic there couldn't find the source.

The car is fine. NO PROBLEM with transmision what so ever. Sounds like rubbing plastics, it's annoying.
