Default scratchy window

Just bought a 2001 S2000...love the car....however, convertible plastic window is completely trashed (only 5k on the car)...whats the deal with this? did honda forget that plastic scratches when it rubs against another surface which is harder? Is this a recall item? If i bring it to the dealer will they take care of it without giving it to me in the shorts?

atrodog 1, Honda has a scratch remover that is supposed to be very good. I would also recommend Plexus for normal maintenance. I really like the way that it keeps the window crystal clear. Honda has replaced rear windows before under their warranty.

You may also want to invest in a well mat that will keep the window from scratching when the top is lowered. The most popular one on this board is the "MUZ mat". Personally, I made my own, with help from my wife's surger.
Hope that this helps,
Bob

Zymol and Zaino both have scratch removers in their lineup. Just don't rub too hard and make sure you have a clean applicator and/or polishing cloth. Do a search, you will find more tips on maintenance of that pesky rear window - which some of us don't use.

I had that too -- bought one with 8k on it and the window was cloudy and scratched, especially in a horizontal band. You'll probably be able to polish it out. Meguiars plastic cleaner and plastic polish worked amazingly well. Took 2 applications a few days apart, but it looks fully clear now.

Here's a link, if it still works...

LIGHT scratches and all haze can be removed by using 3M Scratch-Remove for (Dark or Light) cars.

Meguiars #10 & #17 work just fine for me. Maintain with Plexus in between.

And MUZ is too honest for his own good, buy his MUZ mat for the roof well.

THe mat may "reduce" scratching from the fender well but hazing can still occur on the inside and scratching on the outside.

hmm, I try to think of a better word than AND, I'm sorry if I credit people on this site with too much intelligence

Avoid all internal scratches to rear plastic window with installation of roof well MUZ mat.
