I had my first flat today;
A screw with a diameter of your pinky penetrates thru my rear tire right at the middle of the tread surface.
I took it to Discount Tire store for repair;
They fixed it within 30 minutes.

I noticed a rubber insert about the same size as the screw in the middle on the tread surface. It just look unsafe to me ? what if it leaks air or the rubber insert get pull out ? Has anyone ever get flat tire and waht is the best fix? May be I should get new tire?

I have heard of people trying to screw in the s2k, but never heard of anyone screwing on a flat tire.

To each his own.

If they took the tire off the rim and put a patch/plug in, your ok. They should have cut the plug off even with the tread. After a few miles you won't even see the plug.
If they just plugged it you better play it safe and have them patch it.

If the screw was the size of a finger, I would think that it may have damaged some cord. If I were you, I'd spend the money on a new tire or two. Better be safe than sorry. Also, treat the tire as a non-speed rated tire.

I had a flat from a small nail in center of rear tread. I got it patched, but they stamped a disclaimer on my receipt stating to treat the tire as non-speed rated.

Watch it carefully, if it leaks air then I'd say get a new tire. Better to be safe than sorry

I had a 1/2" dia. screw in my left rear tire, it was big not just some dinky little nail. Too big to patch, didn't want to take any chances so I bought a new tire

I had a construction nail in the tread & took it to Bridgestone/Firestone dealer & they said that only a hot patch will work and plugs are not as good.

Hey asin,

Same thing happened to me off 360, with same result upon having it fixed. I think by the time you run into any integrity issues, those S02's will be toast anyway.

I say, run with it. I didn't have any problems in the 3k miles i put on the vehicle post-fixing.

On a side note, weren't you the one who ran against a friends 540i? If so, now that you have a few more miles on you s2k, can you pull on him now? I'm curios, since my s2k seemed to run stronger after I got about 4k miles on it.

adios.
