ok, I don't think I'm ever going to harp on anyone for posting a thread that asks something posted before because the Search button does not search the entire database-- not even close. now sure, we can't exactly ask for a deep and broad Oracle db to power s2ki, but wow, I've really discovered just how thin the Search function is.

for example, in the last few weeks, there was a great discussion on intakes (yes, the 50,000th discussion on this topic, but hey, it's interesting and new dynos, intake/filter combos, & theories-- lots of theories-- are always coming out). I remember a lot about this discussion. I posted a Bay Area Dyno Day results, and my conclusions were (validly) disputed by 4IG (much respect to ya bro, just citing an example), and tenblade posted something about his PRM bogging until he changed the filter, and then the discussion turned to the MG Racing CF intake. so anyway, I remembered a lot of keywords and it was an overall great thread.

I can't find that thread at all. (pls tell me if you find it, and what you used in the Search query. )

instead, what have found are a lot of old threads, which also have some great gems of wisdom (therefore, always do a Search anyway, even if the tool is a bit underpowered), but there was a particular posting in the thread I was searching for that I couldn't find. and yes, I know how to use the variety of choices in the Advanced Search function.

so anyway, from now on, if somebody posts something posted before, I might casually mention the Search function, but I'll try to answer their question, or atleast post hyperlinks to several versions of an answer.

And once again, does anybody know where that thread is??

for all I know, even this thread has been discussed before. (no I didn't do a search. after 45mins playing with that button, I'm done.)

and to the forum owners, may I respectfully suggest (since I'm not yet a paying member) this?

nevermind, I found the thread I was looking for by just going back one page at a time and scanning the threads in the forum I thought it would be in.

Nonetheless, I think the search engine is about the only thing about s2ki that annoys me. It really doesn't work very well and doesn't let you customize how you search very effectively.

I wish the search results could be sorted by date. Thats my biggest beef with the search on this site.

it supposedly has the option to narrow the search to posting within a particular timeframe, but I don't think it works.

powerful search engines and their corresponding databases are expensive tho. just a heads-up.

I agree, never again will I tell a newbie to "just do a search" because it simply does not work the way it should, probably my only gripe about S2KI.COM, at least for today...

Was this the one you were talking about?

Advanced Search String \"Intake tritium_pie\"
the sickest S2k intake ever... does anybody import this?

Yeah, I just had a hell of a time finding the thread which had a poll on dyno measured hp.

If someone is listening to recommendations:
I'd also suggest the ordering by date option.
And how about an option to search just the thread title?

I have to agree. I love this site, but it has the worst search engine of any car sites that I visit.
