No offense here but some of you may be old enough (like me-) to remember when there were no FWD cars. Unless you had a Jeep etc they were all pretty much RWD. And you know what. It wasnt a big deal. People drove in the snow and lived. My personal experience is that the issue with my S2K is not primarily the RWD, its the weight of the car. I am used to this though, having previously owned a CRX, Del Sol, and Audi TT Quattro. The TT is only minimally better in the snow than the S2K, believe it or not, again its the weight of the car. Once you get used to driving a light car for, oh say the past 15 years, you get used to how you need to drive it in bad weather conditions. Just my 2 cents. Would agree the tires are important though.

I remember those days. We always put a sand bag in the trunk to improve traction.

Yep, I drove many a year in western NY snow without snow tires and RWD. Many of us did and those who didn't generally only used snows on the rear.

OK guys, though my left side sig says Homestead, FL; you're talking to a downeasTA
here. Born in Maine, lived in New England for 26 years. The only all-season tire that carries the mandatory snow flake symbol for approved
winter tires is the Nokian NRW.
Also, if you are going to use tires that you know will see snow, you damn sure don't want
a 245mm tire. The narrower the tire, the better it will perform in the snow/rain, etc. A 225/50/16
Nokian NRW would be a fine all-season tire but for the S2000? I would NEVER put an
all-season tire on this car. NEVER.
Four performance tires, four snows. You paid a chunk of change for it, why risk the inherent dangers
that come with tires not specifically designed for that seasonal road surface? Unless one is an a temperate area where they MIGHT only see one snowfall a year, I just couldn't see it. The OEM tires perform horribly when the temps drop down below 40-degrees, with or without snow.

UPDATE:

Continetal ContiExtremeContact is the WINNER!
Drove my S on about 2inch of snow. Perfect!

With sensible driving in light snow condition and the tires made it seemingly effortless for winter driving in my S2000.

So any doubters, This is a good tire for light snow and wet conditions. Perfect! Im glad that I didn't have to sacrifice dry handling by choosing dedicated winter tires.

Keep in mind, I now live in Ohio. If I was still back in Boston, I would have gone with Michelin Pilot Alpine.

How can you say you didn't sacrifice dry handling? Have you even driven them in the dry yet? No way any All Season tire can even come close to the dry traction of the original S-02's or any other summer only performance tire.

If you have more fun skiing than you do driving fast... Then you're driving too slow.

Come for a few laps with me and I'll quickly change your mind.
