Default Seat comfort?

I've seen threads here in the past about how comfortable the seats are for taller drivers, but what about shorter folks?

I am 5'10", and I have to say, the S2k isn't very comfortable. I've tried adding padding behind the center piece of the seatback, but that doesn't help. The problem is that my lumbar region doesn't meet up well with the seat.

Since getting the s2k about 4 months ago, I have lower back pain almost every day. It is getting to the point that I'm considering getting rid of the S. Anyone else out there had similar feelings? If so, what did you do?

Thanks,
--MarkS

I'm 5'9" and consider my S comfortable (for what it is). I've driven 1,000+ miles in a weekend with no back pain.

I'm 6' and the seats are fine for me. My problem is the rearview mirror is in my driving line of sight!

I would consider trying a different seat(s) before selling the S. There has to be a more comfortable seat out there for you. I wonder if the Civic Si seat fits in the S...

I'm 5'5 115 lbs and I fit in the S extremely comfortably. I love the seats/feel of the car. But I'm small if it well in small cars

5'9" and I've done a few roadtrips that involved days with 8 to 12 hours of driving. No issues. Must have something to do with spine shape? Perhaps you could try putting in one of those lumbar pillow thingies - I see them in people's chairs at the office all the time.

The first three months or so were hell for me. Trips longer than a couple of hours would result in a real sore back.

Afterwards I sorta "broke in" myself and driving for long periods is no longer an issue. A 12-13 hour drive is the longest session I spent in the car driving and I was remarkably fine when I got home.

So in my case it took a few months. I'm 6'1". And yes, the mirror and area on top of the windshield block my view of traffic and especially traffic lights at intersections.

What's remarkable for this car is the ample headroom when using either the hardtop or the softtop.

I have to echo what rworne said. I could not stay comfortable in the S seat for a long time. No thigh support and not enough lumbar either. I even considered shimming the front mounting points to raise the front to give better thigh support, and keep my butt right down in the bend of the seat. But I added a pad behind the lower portion of the seat back and slowly over time I have either adjusted to the seat or it to me as it is now much better. I found that there is only one specific seat setting that really works for me so maybe you just need to give it some more time and keep trying different positions until you find your sweet spot.

I'm 5'11" and I feel just fine in the S2000's seats. My only gripe is I wish the seat sat a little lower. It is annoying when the windshield frame blocks the view of traffic lights. I know others have modified the seat for it to sit lower, but I'm not sure if I want to hack up my seat just to sit an inch lower.

I got used to my seats eventually too. Wait it out.

AND by all means, get another brand of seat before you dump the S!!!! You can sell the stock seats for big $$ and get whatever you need.

Shame on you for even considering bailing the car altogether. We'll just consider that a moment of weakness and forget it.
