Default Seat Lock Set Sold on eBay

After more than 3 years of having Kodokan's seat locks, and feeling very secure in owning them, not sure what to make of this:

eBay Listing

Kodokan, when he sold these in the past, made a very concerted effort to make sure his buyers were S2000 owners, so that their keys didn't make their way into the general non-S2000 marketplace.

Considering buying these just to get them out of there, but perhaps I am paranoid by nature - Thoughts? (Preferably from seat lock owners)

Easier sales terms than from Kodokan himself, since there's less paperwork, and paypal is an option. Bid placed, just for convienence sake. I wouldn't worry too much, unless the winning bid goes to central florida, the S2000 stolen seat capitol.

There's nothing we can do about it. There aren't very many out there so the odds are on your side.

I believe Kodokan has the key changed with each batch. Not sure how many batches there are and how big each batch is, but at least there isn't a 100% chance that they would have the key to your particular lock.

Correct. He changes the keys each time.

How much do these cost from kodokan? If it would be a lot cheaper to buy these from the ebay seller, I might just buy them since I plan on getting an s2000 soon.

Like I've said before, I don't get why people think seat locks are so wonderful...

1) If someone finds out you have a seat lock, they've already slashed your top...

2) ...which means the top is going to cost way more to fix than the seat...

3)... because you can find perfect condition used seats for (well) under $1000

At the very least, your insurance company is going to pay for the cost of used seats, or racing seats, and maybe even brand-new seats (even at their price). Your deductible isn't an issue, since the top replacement should take care of that.

I mean, I'd be pretty mad if I came back and found my car missing a seat, but I'd be more upset about the damage they caused to my car trying to get in.

Yeah, but the real problem is that you car is undrivable without a seat....

Leaving it a sitting theft target and you renting a car....

Looks like he won the auction anyways. No worries!
