eBay Listing

Kodokan, when he sold these in the past, made a very concerted effort to make sure his buyers were S2000 owners, so that their keys didn't make their way into the general non-S2000 marketplace.
THAT'S NOT ME SELLING SEAT LOCKS ON EBAY!

My member name on Ebay is Kodokan_4.

I've been selling Seat Locks the best way I know how (since the beginning), and MANY owners won't buy the Seat Locks because of the proof of ownership requirement.

I don't care how many owners choose not to buy the Seat Locks. I'm going to do every thing I can to protect those who do buy them. This also protects my S2000 which has Seat Locks. The Seat Lock sales is not even a profitable venture for me. I make my money doing anesthesia.

I'm pretty sure I sent _redruM an email through ebay. I didn't read this thread first, and I couldn't understand why someone would pay $80, when the retail price is only $66 shipped.

There are also several different key patterns for the Seat Locks. Nobody else knows which Seat Lock pattern you have.

The Seat Locks ARE visible from outside the car when the seats are all the way back. I realize that most thieves don't expect to come across Seat Locks, so they may not look for them either.

I hope I never see my Seat Locks on Ebay again.

-Pete

Redrum thanks for bidding to keep them in the family. We'll owe you a beer or two for it.

Like I've said before, I don't get why people think seat locks are so wonderful...

1) If someone finds out you have a seat lock, they've already slashed your top...

2) ...which means the top is going to cost way more to fix than the seat...

3)... because you can find perfect condition used seats for (well) under $1000

At the very least, your insurance company is going to pay for the cost of used seats, or racing seats, and maybe even brand-new seats (even at their price). Your deductible isn't an issue, since the top replacement should take care of that.

I mean, I'd be pretty mad if I came back and found my car missing a seat, but I'd be more upset about the damage they caused to my car trying to get in.
Not if you have a hard top in place.

if you like the hard top, IMO it's worth investing around $2K on a used hard top. Since most people have insurance deductibles at $1K, if someone slashes your top and takes the seat it's already going to cost you $1K. I bought it because I like the fact that it reduces noise significantly and I'm not a frequent "top down" kind of guy anyway.

I will be taking the hard top off for the summer temporarily, so there's still a chance I can get the top slashed, but the probability is lower since I only have the soft top part of the year. If I find myself with top up most of the time, it's going right back on anyway.

If you have the seat locks, leave your car unlocked and valuables removed.
An experienced thief will not slash your top if he can simply open the door. Once he discovers the seat locks, hopefully he just moves on.
If he decides to teach you a lesson, he slashes the top and/or the seats which would be gone anyway if thats what he's after.
Hardtop- lock the car, Softop- leave the doors unlocked.

The problem with this approach is that it may deter/save your car from experienced thieves, it invites all kinds of problems from "thieves/vandals of opportunity." These are guys that don't go around looking to break into cars, but would think nothing of wrenching open your glovebox, or chucking a drink on your seat, or even just hawking a loogie in. I think I'll take my chances with an insured soft top, since I think the "professional" thieves are much thinner on the ground than just regular old assholes who will F with my car just because the top is down.

1. Seat Lock Sticker
2. I hear the seats are about 4K each; how much is a top?

Using your logic, why would anyone put an alarm in a car? By the time they find out you have an alarm they've already broken into it.
