Default SeatBelt Bolt

Hey Guys - Working on dynamatting the entire car, thus had to remove the seatbelt anchor bolt to get the carpet out, by the time it came out the threads are all messed up and won't go back in. I stopped at the local dealer and was told I need to buy the whole assembly.

Anyone know where I can get just the bolt?

I picked up a substitute at the hardware store for now. M12 x 1.25 60mm long Grade 8 equivalent. The only problem is it doesn't have the nice little shoulder that lets the belt swivel.

On a side note, why did Honda mount the female end of the seat belt to the seat? It would be so much stronger mounted to the tranny tunnel.

Thanks for the help.

Probably the wrong forum, so moderators feel free to move.

Most cars have it mounted to the seat. The seat slides forwards and backwards. Makes much more sense to mount it to the seat so that it moves with it. I seriously doubt Honda mounted it on a part of the car that is not more than strong enough to support any load put on it. They've also been doing this for quite a while. I have a '92 civic with the belt receptacles on the seat.

If the threads on the bolt are messed up the bolt hole is probably shot too.

Bolt hole is fine, touched it up with a tap, The threads are pretty much shreeded off the bolt, so using a die to clean them up is out of the question. I guess if I had to choose weather to F-up the hole or the bolt, I'd choose the bolt, but I really thought a dealer could get me a new one for 4 or 5 bucks.

Contact a salvage yard with a wrecked S2K? Or maybe a local machine shop can help out. They can make or modify just about anything. Good luck!

when I put sound dampener down, I too screwed up the threads to those seatbelt bolts. I had to bring the car to the honda dealership to get them to thread the passenger side becuase it would not go in no matter what. Damn those bolts!
