Default Seatbelts: AP1 vs. AP2

So just FYI, the seat belt buckles on my AP1 are different than my AP2.

I know that sounds random, but I didn't even think of that possibility.

I ordered a "seat belt buckle extender" so I could feed the buckle through the hole in our race seat side. When I went to check fitment after receiving the part, I just went out the garage and it didn't fit the AP2. I thought, "Crap. I ordered the wrong part." Looked down and the AP2 buckle was a lot skinnier.

I'm not sure when they changed over, but the AP1 buckle doesn't fit in the AP2 receiver.

I've also noticed that my 06 buckle looks different from a friend's 05.

good to know. i was looking to buy a buckle off a mdx.

by "seat belt buckle extender", did you mean it the part will extend the buckle that's mounted to the seat or the seat belt tongue? Could you post a picture please?

No, by "seat belt extender" I meant "seat belt extender."

You know, the things that people purchase because... ahhh... the stock seatbelt isn't long enough for their girth. Needless to say, there aren't any specifically for the S2000.

Note that this is NOT the extender that I purchased and the AP1 buckle (male part) is wider with a triangular hole.

That's a cool idea. it's definitely a challenge a slip the seat belt tongue between and center console and the aftermarket seat.

Would you think the extender is safe? I would hate to see the extender fail.

I was actually thinking to extend the buckle by purchasing one from a different model. Let's say from a SUV. those buckles are generally longer. see picture. Just need the find out if the male part is the same.
