Default Secret Compartment

Was pulled over and searched (bad part of town, driving around aimlessly lost) a few weeks ago, he called back up (??) they pulled apart the car.. trashing it basically, which pissed me off, looked in the trunk, under the seats, in the glove box.. EVERYWHERE.. except the secret compartment guess they never knew it was there, and didnt see it

and for the record, i didnt, never had, and never will have any illegal substances in my car lol

he got out discouraged after about 10 minutes and was like get outta here

so for you drug dealers out there.. if you dont want the cops to find your stash.. get an s2000!

ya, although i was lost, i was in no rush so i was like sure go ahead, and from what i have heard, if i say no, that gives probable cause and they can get a warrant to search it, and i didnt want that to go through and have to sit through all that

I've never had this happen to me personally before, but my major concern would be the cops taking apart the seats, dash and carpet- which is why I would not only not be willing to be searched, but to also raise hell and call a shift supervisor.
I have seen some of those searches, and they don't put back things the way they were.
and don't get me started on how they 'false positive' the drug dogs...

You are very wrong, many cops use those nazi tactics to get you to give up your 4th amendment rights, as soon as you say yes, you give up those rights. Never ever let a cop search your vehicle, even if you don't have anything to hide. When they asked you to step out of the vehicle always lock your doors.

If they really want to search your vehicle, make the bastards get a search warrant, nine times out of ten, they won't get it or they won't want to spend the time trying to get one.

NEVER GIVE UP ANY OF YOUR RIGHTS!!!!

They may think that denying a search gives probable cause but that's not the case. Let them work through their own red tape. Not wanting anyone in my private business is not probable cause.

actually, if they want to search and you won't let them, they usually call out a K-9 unit to sniff around your car. if the dog picks something up, that will give them probable cause, and ok the search.

saying no to a search is not probable cause. its being a responsible citizen.

I also find it objectionable to allow a search of my body and my car without probable cause. Driving in a known drug area is not probable cause. Driving on any legal city maintaned street is legal. If the street is illegal, there would have to be a city sign stating "DO NOT ENTER".
Probable cause does allow for many loopholes in which they use to pull you over. A loud muffler for example could be an excuse but this alone would not be enough to suspect that illegal subsatnces were in your car.
Like the OP stated though, I would probably give up my rights to prove I had nothing to hide and also to get this situation over with so I could get back in my car and leave. At he same time , I have a lot of admiration for those individuals who do stand up for their rights and protest against a search and willingly accept the inconvenience that goes with it.
