I got pulled over once and they thought i looked suspicious. They asked to search my car and I said "no", because as some have said before, they have to have probable cause to search the vehicle. They said fine, we'll just call out the canine unit and search around the outside of your car. I said go right ahead if thats what they wanted to do. They asked me why I wouldnt let them search the car...my reply was simply that I didnt trust them (now theyre really pissed off.....) So we waited, and waited, and waited by the side of the road for about 45 minutes. I finally grew sick and tired of it all and finally conceded to letting them search the car (of course, they found nothing as there was nothing to hide.) SO....that being said, you can stand on your rights all day long. HOWEVER, its also in their right to detain you and basically ruin your day. Its your call, but if you make things painful for them, they will probably make things painful for you too.....

I believe they need probable cause to detain you also. You should have asked why you are being detained and then ask if you are free to go.

Laugh if you want but it's too late. Pick up your telephone recevier and listen. Do you hear those little random clicks in the background behind the dialtone? Might as well let this thread go because if we have anything to hide were already screwed.

radio door, under the spare tire, fuse box, pop off the climate control vents, unscrew the radio entry panel on the passenger side, in the cup holder underneath the removable change holder. Hrm, thats all I got right now.

Well here goes my story...
I was pulled over for "excessive acceleration" (9k in 1st gear short shifted from 2nd in to 3rd) never seen a cop about 4 blocks later a cop pulls around in front of me and flips his lights on, yells at me "get out of the car now!"
I set the parking brake and step out, and no sooner did I start to shut the door, he grabs me and pushes me up against my car handcuffs me and starts to walk me back to his car, as hes leading me back I ask "Why am I being detained" no answer from him. He sets me down in the back of his car. And starts to search my car, never once did he say anything to me about the search. So I'm sitting there like WTF!! This is total bullshit... After about 15min I get let out of car and unhand-cuffed he gives some crap about the reason he put me in cuffs was because he didn't know who I was. BULLSHIT!! He continues to say he was pacing me on the next street up... and that he was pacing me doing 50! (I started to tuck my pant legs in my shoes, cause the shit was getting deep)... Anyway he asked if I had an current insurance card of course I did... I went in my car opened the secret compartment and got it out... He said "where was it I searched the whole car" I said "apparently not".... anyway he wrote me ticket for excessive acceleration and let me go.

that is the problem with most Americans now a days, most see it as a inconvenience to stand up for their rights and would rather just give them up. That is why we are losing them more and more of our rights every year.

next thing you'll know, we'll be hearing "papers please" from these so called protectors we call police.
