Secret Compartment Cover Replacement
I have a MY2000 which I installed an after-market windscreen. The install required drilling holes in the secret compartment cover. I am thinking about tradingin for a MY2003 (when available) and would like to put the car back to 'original' at that time.
Has anyone replaced their secret compartment cover?
Can someone advise if you can replace just the 'cover' or does it involve other pieces of interior trim?
Lastly, I does anybody have a parts number.
Thanks in advance.

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe the entire rear console assembly comes as one piece. If you do not want to go this route, consider using a good interior repair outfit (ask your local Honda / Acura dealerships who touches up their interiors) to see if they can close off the holes.
I had some scratches put into my rear console covers while I was having my seatbelt retractors replaced. The dealership set me up with a guy that they contract to repair small blemishes on their new and used cars' interiors. I was very skeptical at first, but I thought I'd give it a try (dealership said they'd replace the console if I was not satisfied with the work). All I have to say is that it is amazing what these guys can do! After heating/retexturing/painting (YES painting) the scratched areas, the main cover looks like new!
Similar to those mobile glass-repair outfits, this guy came to my work & the console was done in about an hour. I asked what the cost was for a job like that, and he said only about $60.
Bay Area Guys/Gals: If you ever need minor interior repairs done, contact ProTrim (John did my console). They're contracted by a bunch of local dealerships, including Los Gatos Honda and Los Gatos Acura (important, since they have the correct texture templates that closely match Honda interiors).
OK...I've rambled enough. Hope this helps!

00SType- you were one page short in the manual!! page 20-57 discusses rear console box replacement and says to remove the roll bar upper trim and the spare tire!! (so it agrees with what you learned)
ATLJV- that is exactly what he needs to get the part number, but i cant read which number is pointing to the top...

Try this site - http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/ - go to the Parts Catalog On-Line, and check the Console section. It looks like it sells as a unit.
Thanks for all the feedback.
I get the impression that replacing the cover involves more effort than I want to undertake (i.e., having to remove the entire box).
I may check out an 'interior repair' service (thanks 00S Type) or I may just leave it alone.

Michael
