Default Secret compartment great place for the Toll Tag

At this weekend's NOVA meet I learned where the secret compartment was. I feel so dumb, I have owned the car almost three months and did not notice the compartment!

Anyway, someone mentioned that it was a good place for the Toll tag (thus avoiding having the Toll tag glued next to the rearview mirror).

I tried it today and it works! The Virginia Tolls picked up the tag even though the device was tucked inside the compartment (I even had the top on and it was pouring rain).

I thought there had to be line of sight between the toll reader and the device, but at least for the Viriginia tolls, that is not the case.

No more ugly plastic Toll Tag on my windshield

That sounds like a plan. I'll have to go ahead and give it a try tomorrow.

Cdelena has painted his toll tag black so that it blends in with S2000 interior. I've been too lazy to apply his technique so throwing it in the secret compartment might be an alternative.

I spray painted my "FastTrak" flat black, with just the lettering masked off, then stuck it on the window just above the dash on the driver's side. Works a champ and is quite unobtrusive.

Not sure -- and the ticket if it doesn't is ugly. But if you're careful you can certainly make it quite unobtrusive with a can of flat black spray paint. Just make sure you protect the little breathing hole. I carefully masked the lettering off and then peeled the tape off after the paint had dried and the result looks pretty good. And you hardly notice it in the corner of the window.

I've kept my Fastrak in the glove box of all my cars.
I does work!
