Default Moving the steering wheel closer?

Is there any way to move the stock steering wheel and inch or so closer? Has anyone tried this before by making a spacer or something along those lines? I want to keep my stock wheel, but it's positioned right by the bend of my knee's. I have a bucket seat and buddy club rails on the lowest settings but it doesn't help that much. I know an after market wheel would remedy this, but i would really like to keep the stock one....

after market steering wheel with a almost any hub and quick release will move it up about an inch. you'll have to contact vendors and do your research on which is best for you.

well, when you look at the wheel sideway you can tell it's point toward the driver and slightly tiled up.

if you add distance between the hub and the wheel, the air bag might not deploy safely(like smashing explosive air bag one inch closer)

i doubt anything vendor is out there to make such product(without someone sueing already)

are you really tall? if not you can rise the seat angle on the BC rail

How about you pull the seat forward. It may sound funny, but your wrists should lay on the top of the wheel with your arms bent slightly when you are seated right. Most folks sit back too far.

You do not want the steering wheel (air bag) to be closer than 18 inches to your body (torso). Inside of 18 inches is too dangerous, according to the manual.

ya thats what i thought, i am about 6'4" which is why i cant move the seat any closer. With the seat all the way back and at the lowest point my legs are in the perfect position, but the wheel isn't in the most comfortable position.

I kinda wanted to keep the airbag since its just a street car, but it looks like i will probably just go with an after market wheel now

Any luck with this? I'm 6'4" also and I need the steering wheel to be about 1.5" closer for better knee-to-steering wheel clearance.

I am also interested in this. I am quite a bit farther back than 18" due to my long legs, the seat is all the way back and the seat also has to be leaned as far back as possible for me to even fit in the car. However the steering wheel is far too far away now, if it could be moved up 1 " it would be perfect, but I dont want to lose the airbag.

anyone?

I find myself wishing the steering wheel was closer sometimes... when i had the stock seat, I could pick any two, proper arm distance, legs comfortable, reclined slightly for comfort. I had to sit perfect;ly upright which hurt my back after a few mins to get good leg and arm position, and then I couldnt see the top of the tach... with my buddy club seat lowered I can get it closer to right.
