Sorry, D_H_MI, I don't think anyone here can help you. If you take the time to read some of the other posts here, you'll see that S2K owners have no control problems.

What are you, some kind of twisted freak? Are you saying that you actually LIKE that horrible noise that that VTEC thingy makes???

Seriously, you used the operative word in you thread title: SELF control.

Do the best you can, or pay the price I guess.

I never had this problem because by the time I got my car home it had around 350 miles on it (I had to drive it from Orlando to SW FL) Then I did some city driving .. it only took like 3 days to get over 600 miles.. Oh yeah, I did drive to Miami once too.

In fact I didn't even get in to VTEC until around 700 miles!!

Oh well.. some people say that it's OK to rev to 9K with out the breakin period.. the truth is no one really knows what the true long term effects of redlining so early.. I know some people who have done it and not had any problems at all...

I didn't want to take the chance with my car though! heh heh

I VTEC'ed mine a few times before I was supposed to. Now it seems as if my stook is faster than stock. I say if you are worried about engine problems don't VTEC, if it's no biggie to you then VTEC it. I think I set the rings into performance mode or something, or maybe it's the yellow that made mine faster!

I had 9500 miles when I installed my ACT clutch and pressure plate and was told I had to do 500 miles of "easy stop & go" driving for it to break in properly.
I intentionally drove on state roads with heavy traffic & stop lights where cars are endlessly entering and exiting and you have no chance or opportunity to ignite the car.
Do it right and they'll be no uncertainty later over the tens of thousands of miles you'll own the car for.
