The markup on some of the new CTRs makes it cost as much as two mint S2000s. At that price I think the choice is very clear.

60K? Hopefully nobody is retarded enough to let themselves get shafted. Everyone that really wants a type r at the most they should pay is msrp to be the first ones. I myself would never pay msrp for a car. I remember when I bought my RSX type s back then. Salesman says sticker price. I laughed at him and said no. I'm sure this will happen if a new s2000 ever comes out. Everyone should give the dealer/salesman the boot if they want ADM.

Several years down the road, people will still talk about S2000, but no one will remember this type R or barely talk about it because it is just another civic.

I don't know about that. We've been waiting 20 years for a CTR in the states! Also, production is limited to 6000 at the moment. Even the watered down ITRs we got in the 90s are still highly desirable, and those are just "another integra."

Sure the rear end is kinda ugly, but you can't deny that Honda put a lot of work into the performance of this car. It'll likely be better in every performance metric than the s2000 stock for stock. If you need a good dual purpose car (track/daily) this is a great option.

This. I have no interest in ever owning a FWD vehicle again. Honda has said they're considering a higher hp version, and different layouts such as AWD, so I'd wait. But even still I'm not interested, although I do like the new Type R. My winter/bigger car needs to be a hatch/wagon as it's just easier for camping/biking/snowboarding/etc.

I don't want to turn this into a drivetrain discussion, but what makes you so against FWD?

I daily a GTI and its a pretty awesome FWD vehicle. I also have a JK Wrangler that RWD until it snow starts to fall. But I think FWD is fine so long as the motor and transmission is one you can live with. I love the 2.0T w/ DSG in my GTI.

How were the USDM ITR's "watered down"?
