IMHO ~ If I were a buyer, I wouldn't want to buy a car if the seller didn't have title in hand.

Also, turn around time on a title can take a while. When I had an element
financed through Honda, I Paid it off and it took them almost a month
to get me the title.

title's got to be clean before you could transfer it.
