Default seriously, who loves their S2000's engine to death

i wouldn't go turbo. once i run through 1st and 2nd gear VTECs, i'm at 60mph and speed limits only go that high on expressways here around DC...everywhere else it's 30-35-40-45mph. maybe the majority of you live in the boonies, and therefore wish you had more HP, but honestly, there's no way i can really drive this car for any extended periods of time the way everyone would want to.

~240 horses carrying minimal luggage and only 2 passengers at max...i don't see why people need more than that. the whole "omg a minivan might be able to keep up with me from a stop light!" whining seems ridiculous to me. i like having untapped power under the hood for basically 2 reasons: having fun and being able to merge in and out of traffic expeditiously. i don't need to go run a 13.8 sec. 1/4 mile at 98mph and print out the ticket just to know that i have a penis.

seriously though, am i in the minority here? i think the car looks absolutely slick with the top down, and it handles beautifully and accelerates in under 6 seconds if you really want it to...so what's the big deal? the new M3 goes 0-60 in like 4.7 sec? great! they're going to get to that next stop light like two seconds before i do! i guess that means i need to have one, or to go FI with my current car!

whee. anyway, people who wouldn't go turbo, please discuss.

Couldn't agree more. I had a similar discussion with a friend last week....

He is all about gobs of power, turbo spool sound, blow off sound, etc., etc.... and that stuff just doesn't do it for me. For me, The F20C and F22C sound AMAZING in factory form. The idea of bolting up a bunch of crap to the engine and having things all over the bay does not appeal to me. I love the simple design of our engine bay, the basic concept behind an N/A engine and of course.... the sound!

I'm sure a boosted S2000 is a blast to drive, I just prefer our cars the way they came out of the box.

i wouldnt go turbo and sacrifice reliability. unless people are going WOT all the time, they are not in need of more power.

I love the engine but i would like to supercharge it. not really because i need to go fast, and i wouldn't really use the power hardly ever, but it'd be nice to have. Just passing you wouldn't really need to downshift one gear let alone 3. and when i want to go fast i could go FAST. getting pinned into your seat just feels awesome.

go for a ride in a FI'd s2k and then come back and post.

i went with the s/c option on my car because it maintains its regular daily drivability.. if you keep it under 5k during regular driving (most people do) you are hardly building up any boost, but if you open her up, you always have that extra power on tap. also, with the centrifugal supercharger, you maintain a linear power curve, similar to that of an N/A motor..

I think if a guy (can't speak to female situations) has a penis of average size or larger, then putting a turbo on one's engine is a waste of time and $$$ (not to mention the additional stress on the engine).

I've had my share of cars I used to "tinker" with all the time. It seems good for a change to just get in and drive and not have to be tuning all the time.
Once you start there is always that something extra to be done/changed to get just that little more power.
I've decided to leave well enough alone on this car.

I admit I miss the car already, the way it used to be, Vtec "feels" non-existent with a Turbo, and the car will be way more unforgiving with all that power around turns, but I would do it all over again, the power at 3,000RPMS is unbelievable. IF I was going to track this car, I would of stayed N/A, but I feel the Turbo is a perfect addition to this car, the performance finally parallels the looks, not to mention the sound of the Turbo, though it may not be for everybody, it gives me and "my small penis because I went turbo" a hard on. You can reason all you want, but don't sit here and type that you would not love 100+ additional HP, the car drives just like stock if you don't get on it hard
