Default Service Bulletins

Hey everyone, so I bought my 2000 BB S about a month ago and found the service bulletin section on here. I was wondering how regularly Honda will honor these if at all for an older car like mine. The ones I am mainly talking about are the taillight markers, deformed windshield molding and the transmission grinding shifting into 2nd at high RPM. Obviously the car no longer has a warranty so I assume the dealership will prob laugh me out of the store if I bring any of these up correct? The transmission one in most troubling since I have now had it grind 3 times trying to get into 2nd at high RPMs. I had thought I was just being retarded with the clutch so I suppose its good to know its not me haha

Synchromesh is good. I heard people are really liking the new Honda Manual Tranny fluid, though. The 1-2 shift can take some getting used to, as well.

As for the TSBs it depends on your dealership. If you've bought many Hondas from your dealership and have a relationship with the service department, they might "good will" you a few.

I think getting an unknown dealership to replace things (like tail lights) on a 9 year-old car bought used and privately... probably not going to happen as they're just throwing money out the window. If it was just retorquing axle nuts, then maybe.

That's just my $0.02.

Maybe some of our members who work at Honda dealerships could chime in on their general policies for TSBs way out of warranty?

Just did the 60,000 mile tranny and diff fluid change with the honda MTF. According to the TSB it seems like its not me but the transmission. Its a simple clutch in stick back movement I am not even trying to shift all that fast when it has happened. Two-three shift I have bounced on cars before by letting the clutch out too fast but not the one-two shift. The clutch has been solidly planted in the floor the three times it has happened.

What was the difference in the engine vs. transmission speed during those shifts? I agree that it's the transmission, just trying to help with a work-around.

If you mean the taillights are turning pink, that was a recall not a TSB. They should take of that one, no problem.

On the others, if you're a "cash cow" for the service department they may go out of their way to help you. Otherwise, they have no obligation outside the warranty period.

Pull TOWARDS your hip when you shift. Dont just rip it back like any other manual. Pause briefly in neutral.

Problem solved.

Keep in mind, the point of a TSB is to communicate common repairs to service techs. I would not expect any TSBs to be comp'd this far out of warranty, particularly if you're not the original purchaser from that dealership.

Yea, thats what I figured. Now that I have done it 3 times I am remembering that if I'm running it up that the 2nd gear shift has to be fairly solid or like Niko said a slight pause in neutral. Thanks
