So I changer my tranny fluid a few days ago and I guess it inspired my buddy to change his in his supra as well. We did everything exactally the same except for 1 thing. Before he filled the tranny he lowered 1 side of the car. He said it makes it so you get a little bit extra fluid in there and that it helps get rid of some of the notchiness while shifting. I was just curious if anyone has done that before and if that is true or if its a bunch of . Thanks.

I've seen threads on this board where people did this. I'm not sure if it does anything. The service manual says to fill it when the car is level so the tranny is probably designed to operate with that amount of fluid. I follow the service manual.

actually, there will be more resistance for the gears to spin through the oil and it will decrease gas mileage and put unnecessary load on the engine.....it might get rid of the notchiness though ...

No problem over filling a few hundred CCs.. I wouldn't go beyond that.

Overfilling the tranny will result in notchier shifting and harder to get into gear. I don't know how much over filling would cause this problem, I just know if you put too much in...its not going to improve anything.

Yes I have and do, at the recommendation of some very well experienced members (and former member - XV) of this site. According to them, a slight overfill of the tranny and diff are perfectly fine. I have always tilted the car one way to add extra draining and then the other way to add extra when filling.

I can report no ill effects from this practice after 6 years of ownership and many, many, many miles (174k).

I overfilled my tranny just a tad. It was suggested here by some very experienced members who know their stuff. Something about proper fluid level to lubricate something in the tranny during heavy cornering.
