Bentrim,
Just got off the phone with Vicki - you're right she's great.
She loves you, too ;-)

I'll be picking the car up from Hersons and bringing it over
to Rosenthal first chance I get.

Thanks so much!

Well, I dropped the car off at Rosenthal and they called me
about the 1-2 grind, indicating that that would be covered,
but no word on the rest of the issues, as they thought they
were most likely related to the clutch, which at 28,100 miles
is completely shot (along with the flywheel).

I thought this was a little odd that the clutch would be shot
after this many miles, but it obviously is. I wonder if it has only
to do with my driving style... I've been experiencing possibly
clutch-related issues for about 10,000 miles, but it was never
a constant problem, only intermittent.... and i've had poor
experience trying to get anyone to diagnose and fix an
intermittent problem - auto or otherwise.

Also, was there a TSB related to the clutch? Vicki mentioned
a recall (TSB) related to the 1-2 grind, but I'm looking at almost
$800 in parts + labor for a new clutch and flywheel that I should
think would be in good condition after this much time.

I drove 32000 VERY HARD miles on my (modified) Integra GS-R
and never had a clutch-related problem. The rotors were showing
stress cracks after all that hard driving, but not the clutch.

I've driven the S hard at times, but take it relatively easy for
the most part... and seldom even try to drag (a handful of times
at most).

Thanks for any thoughts.

OK, now that I'm back in town let me give the big ups to Vicki as well (and thanks for the rear window hint, bentrim). Robert Salguero, the tech, knows his stuff--especially since I'm known as "the guinnea pig" around Tysons.

When my clutch was shot at 30,000mi (obviously had it pulled during 1-2fix) Rosenthal covered the disc and the throwout bearing (as well as labor). They left it up to me to cover the cost of the pressure plate. Since I happened to have this Mugen PP laying around (thanks, Pepe) the timing was great. Waaay back then Mike Milloy was the service writer and Kevin Taylor was the SM, but they're next door at the Porsche dealer now. I have no doubt that Vicki will be in your corner. Her monthly bonus depends on it.

Chris - There is a TSB out on deceleration noise related to the clutch. Many members of this forum have had clutch disks replaced under warrantee.

Are they sure you need a new flywheel, or is it a pressure plate that should be replaced? If it's a flywheel, that's pretty unusual.

It may be too late for this, but there is a group buy on ACT clutches and pressure plates being run by Ben of Bulletproof Automotive. Now might be the opportunity for an upgrade. http://www.s2000online.com/forums/showthre...?threadid=17972

Gregg - first off... lovely avatar...really...

Secondly, Vicki knows you well You just picked up your baby today?

I just talked to her and faxed over the clutch TSB and the info from
the Library re: the rear window. She said she'd pass it along to the tech.

Thank you all so much for the assistance. I'd LIKE to do the ACT clutch,
but only if I HAVE to pay for what I see as something that should probably
be covered by warranty.

It's really great to have this community here. The few of you that I've
actually met are just as crazy as you seem online (Gregg) ;-)

BTW,
What is this mystical, magical "rear window hint" Gregg refers to having heard from Bentrim?

Thanks

Anime, glad to hear you found a place. I guess I know where I'll be taking my baby from now on. Ourisman doesn't seem too trustworthy to me right now.

Don't ever say the word "Service"...

Right now Honda Gillman Service is on my hate list...

Thread I posted about Gillman screwing up my car...

Another Thread about Gillman screwing up my car even more on the return visit...
