Service - Weary
Hey MD/VA/DC drivers ..... how is Herson's Honda's attitude towards these recalls and repairs ?? Are they skilled to have the problems taken cared of once and for all ? Seems like everyone in the area is going for Vicki at Rothensal Honda.
I have a 2001, just picked it up last friday, my 4th gear pops out when the tranny is cold, and driven on a bumpy road ..... what is that ?
Also, when the car decelerate, there is this noise coming from the tranny .... sounds like something is loose in there ...... is that a recall on 2001 as well ?
Thanks for the help guys, I spent hours in this site trying to find out if i should go for the check ups, I am getting this chill just thinking abt them taking my car apart ......

mstw,
Avoid Hersons. If you read a couple of posts up, you'll see that
they are the folks I lodged a complaint with Honda about re: a
very very poor service experience... Another reason not to like
Hersons: a (list price) $27 air filter? Herson's price: $38. H and A
Accessories: $17 (or so). I only wish I would have purchased the
clutch replacement parts off H and A.
Gregg:
You're right. It's got to be the car. I didn't even scratch the Teg.
So far, I've had 3 body-related incidents (2 my own damn fault),
4 sets of tires (incl. stock) 1 set of MESSED UP tires (very bad
handling there) and this deal here. Maybe I should be modifying
the heck out of it... seemed to work for the Teg... then it'll spend
the time it wants to in the shop without being messed up
Thanks again to everyone here. You all rock. Plans for summer
NoVA meets? I'm recruiting a Red and a Silver in my new
neighborhood - plus my old next-door neighbor with the Silver

I love this message board!!
I think Rosental is going to be innundated with service calls on our cars. Don't think they will mind the extra business.
Good service should certainly be rewarded!!
Thanks for all of the posts on these topics guys!!

Johev is right.
I think Vicki will become the pre-eminent S2000 service expert
in the DC Metro area. And we're forcing it on her
Honestly, tho - if they know what kind of power this board has
in referrals and we continue to send S2000 work their way we
will in fact be helping them to become better with this car. If we
focus our service requests with Rosenthal instead of spreading
it out in the area, we will have an expert resource where we can
feel comfortable bringing our cars and recommending friends.
My .02
BTW, I almost forgot to mention that Vicki's manager was not
happy with the results they got from their rear-window cleaning
procedure and has ordered me up a new one. Woo hoo!
Also, according to her, Patrick may have something to say about that.
Patrick?

I agree! What is better than basically having our own dedicated shop that will really specialize in this car! It will come in pretty handy as problems arise!
I'm just glad that one dealership at least has taken customer service seriously!

Thanks Chris,
I actually tested my car again last night, and now 4th gear pops out even on paved roads, give it abt 3 minutes of cruising at around 4000rpm, I could actually tell when its about to come out by the noises its now starting to make .......
What is wrong with the trannies on these stooks ??!!
I had to bring my car to Herson's at 7:30 this morning, I'll let everyone know what the result and explanation I will be getting from them shortly ....

Just got off the phone with Hersons .....
Here is what they said, they drove 15 miles, 10 by the mechanic, and 5 by the advisor, and was not able to duplicate the problem ....... the way he presented the results to me really ticked me off, saying that I just want to make sure my 2001 does not have the problems that some 2000 models are having ?! Mine is 3 days old ! why would I choose to give them the keys when I can have fun with it ...... I guess its a hassle for them to adjust the mesh or the synchro, mine isnt grinding or anything, just when pressure is applied, it snaps out into neutral ~ I dont think its true .......
Can I bring it to an aamco tranny shop and use my factory warranty ? the folks at gaithersburg aamco next to costco knows their stuff really well ....... had my 98 civic's tranny fixed there and it worked better than ever.

Keep away from Herson's if that is the kind of treatment you are getting!
I would really go directly to Rosental in Tysons on rt 7 talk to Vicki, she will take care of your car.....I would go out with the technician and make sure they see the problem, even if it takes driving it for more than the 15 minutes or whatever Hersons claims they drove it.
What a total pain! I hate bad dealers! I can't believe they aren't giving you any better service with the car only being 3 days old. I would also call Honda of America and tell them the way you were treated. I know they will get on Hersons at some point. I remember way back when Hersons was just motorcycles, they were always high priced and were all about the sales and didn't want anything to do with the service, sounds like the location has changed and the product, but the way of doing business remains sadly the same!!!
Go to Rosenthal, at some point they may be the only dealer in the area if these others keep messing with us!
