sh*t talker!
You know there will always be someone to slag your S. I live in a city of luxury cars and the S doesn't or does fit in depending on your perception. I constantly see Boxsters, TT's, Ferrari's etc. and I believe if your driving the ride you think kicks ass then your set! That's all that matters.
In my opinion (of course I'm biased) the S just looks and feels way better than anything I've ever driven. Most people aren't enthusiasts like much of us and they drive "what's popular". To me you should drive a ride that you "loved" or "have always wanted"...

Yeah case in point. My point is I didnt appreciate some young kid tell me that my mom and dad purchased my S for me when in reality I served 5 years in the US Navy as a Construction Engineer. I got my S as a present to myself after spending alot of time in Iraq. I have been out since December 19 2005. I use the benefits that I earned to pay for school and to make the most of my future. These kids are the same people that recieve government funding to pay for school and they dont want to be there to begin with and their grades show that for sure. What a waste of tax dollars. They always make excuses that include the hood they are from. My parents came to America from Thailand with a couple hundred dollars in their pocket, education and a drive to build a family. They are very well off today so the whole hood excuse goes out the window in my view. Some people like to blame everyone else for their own poverty and misfortune when they have a opportunity to change their own life and dont take advantage of it. Again their grades show that. When they start talking.. I put them in their spot because thats where they belong with the attitude they present me with.
When the SH*** talkers actually make money and can buy their own car they have no right to talk SH***. Other than that what they should do is lay low and keep their mouths shut till they can earn something thru hard work. Till then thank you for riding the NY/NJ MTA

Since I had my S2000 I went to a M3 and now a Cayman S. I still participate on S2Ki because I made so many friends here, but in hanging out with the high-end European crowd I've never heard a single bit of trash talking about a less expensive car - usually they want to check out the less expensive car and learn about it. I think when you have the money, it is all about the enthusiasm......unless we're joking a Vette owner
Hehe its kind of funny that you say how young people are less classy on average.
I'm only 20 and this is my fourth car. I guess the reason I'm not cocky and immature like a lot of other people my age is that for one I have had to buy all of my cars and know if I do something stupid my parents would say "Well you made your bed, now lie in it."
They also taught me to respect myself and others. I love the fact that the S can go fast. I have driven it fast but only on long open stretches of highway in the daylight.
While I personally hate STi's I won't say they are shit because they are good vehicles for what they attempt to do.
Add to the fact that I already know who I am and have no need for someone else to think I'm "cool" by having the fasted car or the loudest although my invidia exhaust helps in that respect.
I've had some people try and talk shit about my S but since I don't even get upset and usually only debate facts on how the S is better than their car in this respect and their car is better than the S in this respect it makes them mad
When you argue logically with someone who is out to make you mad you will always win because they realized their plan of making you upset didn't work.

Yesterday a few of us Blue-Star'd guys were not taking this thread seriously at all. There were a few threads on the idiotic side, and I guess we decided to goof off in this one......anyway......you do make a great point
and have earned my respect in the process.

Sometimes pearls of wisdom come in unexpected places.
Admittedly, when the S2000 first came out, I was thinking what's the big deal with this car. So when my friend went and bought himself one I thought he was utterly crazy for buying it particularly since he was looking at RX7s, S4s, etc. Still, despite my biases I understood why he bought the car, but I still didn't quite get it. So one fateful night he tossed me the keys and let me take it out for a drive. One word, hooked.
This car isn't about power, handling, being a vert although it is all these things. What differentiates this car from mustangs, STIs, EVOs, etc is that its primary focus is giving the most driving enjoyment it possibly can, and by doing so became a great handling, moderately powerful convertible. It's for people who don't need to win a race to justify making the car payments, for people who don't need to drive around empty industrial parks to enjoy their car, people who don't need to car to tell someone I'm better than you. 95% of the time you're just driving around, the question is are you enjoying the drive or looking for a race? Top down, VTEC screaming in a tunnel, wouldn't trade that for risking my car trying to prove some irrelevant point to some guy.
Thass not to say that winning a stupid race isn't fun (because it is), but it won't dictate my buying decision because that would be allowing someone else to choose my car.
