I just recently had my front bumper and right fender painted (stupid sunday driver), and I wanted to get my front emblem shaved as well. I went to a very good shop. The owner told me the same thing your guy did. He couldn't guarantee that it wouldn't start showing an outline later on and suggested against it. I'm sure he was mostly afraid I would give him a hard time about it later if it did show. He talked me out of it, but I regret it now. I realized later that if it did look bad, I could just slap an emblem back on. Now I feel stupid for not doing it.

Thats a good point about putting the emblem back on

I am going to shop around alittle get a few other opinions

I feel the friend is just trying to cover himself incase it does begin to show the outline

wouldn't you do the same?

I think your friend is actually trying to be up front with you about this and giving you an option to back out, instead of telling you everything is ok now and turn his back on your later when outline begin to show.

Mine was done a year ago. The body shop used a plastic filler. Went to a shop that handles a lot of custom work in this area.

if your getting it shaved...duramix is the stuff you want used, not just plugged and filled with bondo.
