It's alumnium, so any good aluminum cleaner/polish should work. If you like a satin finish, use 4x stainless steel to clean it and buff out the scratches.

I have the aluminum knob, and it's so FUBARR on the right side with chips and scratches, I've given up. I'll be replacing it whenever I have $100 +/- that I won't miss.

I use Mother's Mag and Aluminum Metal polish on my Tag Heuer stainless steel watch (polished in the middle, satin on the sides). It works good on that. I assume it would be good on the knob.

The stock shift knob is anodised so be careful what you polish it with. Things like Autosol or Goddard's Glow are great on Aluminium (mag) wheels etc. I'd try it on a test area first before polishing an anodised knob with it.

Just leave it as is... like leather seats, consider it a wear item - the wear shows character...

So let me get this straight...you guys are recommending to "polish our knobs!?"

Wont that lead to more stains?
