Mines scratched and stained too. I may replace it w/ a Ti knob after awhile

Yes, but I don't tap it on the knob. I have noticed that the vibrations of the engine will make my ring bounce off of it though, so I might as well be tapping it intentionally with the back of my ring for the damage it makes anyway.

Reminds me of my dealer's advice on the scratching on the shift ring from my tennis bracelets: "take your jewelry off before you drive." WTF? Could you see Mercedes telling some rich snob to take HER diamond tennis bracelets off before she drove her car?
