Bring your favorite shift knob to a machine shop and have them lathe you one of similar shape out of brass. That should be more than heavy enough for you.
Nahh. Then he'd be spending all his time "polishing his knob".

Not possible.
The OEM stock knob is aluminum. An OEM Ti knob weighs considerably more.
Atomic mass of Aluminum = 26.98
Atomic mass of Titanium = 47.87
Unless the laws of physics has somehow changed?

Speaking about laws of physics, I talked with some of my buddies at Los Alamos about making me a Plutonium one.

Thing is, in the winters out here, solid metal shift knobs get quite cold, but one made from Pu would have both the weight that folks seem to be looking for (and then some), and it would have its own internal heat source, keeping it nice and toasty warm in the winter.

How warm, of course, would depend on just how big you made the thing. And there are definitely issues with making it too big. (If I say more, I'll have to kill everyone.) I haven't priced it out yet, but they have all these scraps lying around...

Ti knob is all Ti.

I have both and unless I got ripped off the Ti knob is lighter

Ti Knob is also physically smaller
Sorry to burst your bubble, but these things have been weighed years ago and it's common knowledge that the Ti OEM knob is heavier than the Al OEM knob.

The Al OEM knob weighs in at 100 grams.
The Ti OEM knob weighs in at 155 grams.
Look here: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showt...ndpost&p=404956

And this was common knowledge BEFORE they were ever weighed:

https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showt...ndpost&p=361116
https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showt...ndpost&p=404944

Have you actually weighed these things or are you guessing?
Do you know for a fact that they are steel or lead on the inside? Or are you guessing?
I've had both in my hands and the Ti is heavier. I think you got ripped off.

The '02+ style knobs (leather wrapped) do weight more than the early all alum knobs. And they do have a non alum center section, it is most likely steel..

Please weigh one and post the weight here for comparison. I doubt that much more than the inner sleave (to make the thread) is of denser stuff and the leather part will be less weight than any metal.

If I had a scale I'd weigh them for you but as I don't this is all that I can tell you.

The 04 knob again looks to be made of 2 different materials.

My Ti knob is obviously lighter, so until i can find a way to weigh these suckers I won't know if I got ripped off or if the 04 knob is just really heavy.
