Default Shifting gear 2nd to 3rd

Guys,

I have owned the s2000 for a little over a month now.

What I noticed is when I shift from 2nd gear to 3rd gear (without a pause, one motion), going into gear is not perfect. The smoothness is not there.

But if I leave it in netural for a split second, then go to 3rd gear, it feels more clean and natural.

Any thoughts?

Btw, it is an 07 with 9k miles.

Tony

it is probably the combo of the clutch delay valve and the VSA. Does it happen if you have the VSA turned off?

happens to me too..06 with 5700 miles...notchy from 1-2 2-3 but goes away after a while of driving and after it is fully warm..but yeah i know what your saying...stop in neutral and it feels fine going in
i don't think it is a problem considering it goes away for me after a while and then the tranny is smooth like butter
how long do you take your car out for a time..maybe the tranny is not completely warmed up although the engine is...

Well, its probably the windshield wipers and radio volume actually....

Seriously though, VSA is stability control - not part of the shifting action. The CDV is in the clutch hydraulics, but only manages engagement speed to limit shock.

The S2k shifter is notchy - its a direct link, and until the car's transmission is hot, you will get notchiness, so that's normal. Its also a short shifter, so maybe you're just shifting too quickly - about how many seconds would you say it takes you to shift from 2 to 3?

How long does it take to learn how to drive stick properly? Shifting from one gear to another, up or down, whether it takes 1/4 sec, 1 sec, 5 secs, can be done smoothly. It's a matter of driver technique.

search for what kind of grease to use for the shifter and put a little more down there. i put some grease on my axialflow ss and installed it and had to pull it again and add more grease to get rid of the notchieness
