maybe you're shifting it wrong? i know when i first started i would always end up in 5th gear from 2nd cause i would move the shifter to the right as i'm pushing up.

just push straight up and you'll be in third and it'll be smoother. unless you're talking about the actual transmission being rough then i don't think you can do anything about that.

[QUOTE=Saki GT,Oct 2 2008, 05:42 PM] Well, its probably the windshield wipers and radio volume actually....

Seriously though, VSA is stability control - not part of the shifting action.

i have a ap1 and the same problem. even after changing my tranny/diff fluid. even after its warm it can be slightly notchy. like you said if you wait a split second before going into 3rd itll be a lott smoother. it does seem to me though that the higher in the rpm i am the smoother itll go in gear and i dont have to wait that 'split second'.

The very short stick allows for very little leverage. I doubt that any other manual you may have driven would have required the extra force that must be applied as it does in the S. Consider it a blessing.

Extactly what you said about the higher rpm having a smoother shift.

It feels better knowing it was built this way

Shift with your finger tips dont shove it forward with your palm. That may be part of the shift plane not being lined up correctly.

compared to a porsche 915 trans it's perfection... on a stick!

My 07 feels the same. At low revs 3rd gear is notchy but when you're hitting redline, it's nice and smooth.
