You're launching, not double clutching and granny shifting like you should!

Maybe some of you guys have oily tires or are only referring to AP1s or something, but my experience is that the AP2 can't be "launched." Dump the clutch at 6000 RPM and the CDV valve will just fry the hell out of your clutch while you creep forward. The engine overcomes the clutch completely and even after the valve has released the clutch, it still won't grab. Your car will smell terrible and you probably take 10,000 miles off the clutch's lifespan.

Just say "no" to launching.
umm, not sure what you are talking about. i ran 1.92 in 60 ft in a stock car except for a intake. but about the clutch frying.

I know, i was just brining up the fact that ppl always say, "the car is made for the twisties and the autox" when most of them have never autocrossed or been on a remotely twisty road.

Guys, you have to launch the car in the autox :noes:

I have not launched a car hard at an autocross in the last 3 years. I have found I'm better off concentrating on what I'm going to do during the run than during the launch.

And this is what a broken pinion tooth looks like.

It may take 100s and 100s of clean launches to break. Or it may break on the third launch (unusual without wheel hop). But you can imagine how vulnerable this little piece is to repeated punishment.
