i tried it once at about 4,000 rmps from 2-3, and from 3-4. But i'll never do it again cause its a lot more fun using the clutch and not worriing about blowin the syncs.

I have done it here and there in my S. Takes a little skill. Now in my 99Civ SI, different story. Once rolling I could drive and never touch the clutch, with no prob at all. Matching downshifts w/out clutch was a frig'n blast in that car, aproach corner, pop out of 4th, rev, drop into 2nd, and go. The S seems to have a much smaller 'window' at any given speed to match the sycros up.

Step on the clutch and shift is what the fun from driving manual transmisssion. If no clutch apply on each shift, why not buy a car with tiptronic.

 

I'm going to have a cut-away transmission in Sacramento the end of this month so you can see what is going on in the transmission.

Shifting without a clutch can be done, but if not done properly is not pretty. I have a few gears with the "dogs" sheared off, I'll bring one along w/the trans.

It's nice to hear from you. Any information that helps us better understand the capabilities and limits of our wonderful car is greatly appreciated. I'm hoping that someone takes pictures and posts it for the rest of us to see.

 

Agree, It's probably the guy who buys that used S2000 30,000 miles down the road that gets the real benefit of all that so called innocent clutchless shifting.

As stated above, picking the right momentum as you just start decelerating makes it easy to slip car into neutral without using the clutch. Clutchess shifting, as mentioned, an entirely diferent animal.
I used to do some -clutchess shifting- in VW's (4 speed tranny, low revving engine) years ago, but as many have stated above, WHY would you do that in your S?????????????

It's a bad idea to do so, but I used to do it in my 2000 Civic once in a while. Easy car to do it in. Never plan on trying in the S2000. Never.
