Default Short people - Do you feel funny with the seat pulled forward? :)

I am a rather short person myself (5' 5") and have to pull the seat forward pretty good in order to get a comfortable driving position. However, I tend to feel a little self-conscious since there is such a gap between the headrest and the roll-bar.

Any other short people out there get the same feeling sometimes?

Just wondering.

Hey Baldy (nice handle, BTW)-

Like you, I'm short. 5'6" to be exact. I sit closer to the wheel than most as well. Driver's training courses have taught me to sit with the wheel close enough for my elbows to be slightly bent and have my wrists be able to comfortably rest on top of the wheel. This means no "laid back Big Pimpin'" seating position. I end up with a good sized delta between my seat back and the roll bar.

Do I feel funny about it? A little, I guess. But no big deal. My "proper" seating position helps me execute better shifts and have proper leverage on the steering wheel to clip apexes and rocket out of the next corner!

5'6" here...I put the seat incredibly close just because I'm still just starting out driving a standard and the clutch is something I'm not used to

5'10"

I think my legs need to be longer!

To get a comfortable driving position, I also have to adjust the seat forward, then the steering wheel seems to be a little too close than the proper position, so then i put the seat back a little further back, then voila! Now I can drive comfortably and properly.

As for the gap between the seat and the roll hoop can't be "fixed," but try to put your passenger seat in the exact same position, so at least the 2 seats are even and overall the car will look better too.

Actually, I think somebody in the 5'6" to 5'9" range is best suited for driving a "S"............You can actually adjust the seat back and seat positions more effectively than taller folks. I am 6'1" and getting in and out of my "S" can be a challenge........Once in the car I must have the seat all the way back which does not leave any room to adjust the seat back as much as I would like. Also taller folks sit up higher (obviously) and get more wind over the top of the windshield than shorter people - One can lose many hats driving a "S"!!!!

5'2" there is a gap about 5 or 6 inches it dosen't bother me. It's extra storage space .... my purse, a bottle of windex for the windows, a sweater or jacket. The space comes in handy.

Now that's thinking! I always enjoyed the thought that I can put a bigger subwoofer back there than a taller person could .

If you're from Orange county do you ride with the LA group? You're too smart for them, you gotta come down and ride with the SD group!
