Default short ram vs. cold air intake

Which one gives you better horsepower? Short ram intake of the cold air intake. I currently have the injen cold air, but am considering other ones. Has anyone tried the V2 cold air by AEM? Am I increasing my chances of getting hydrolocked bcause of the cold air intake sucking in water? I live in Minnesota. My car is stored in the winter, but I drive in the rain.

Put a K&N filter in the stock airbox. Leave it in the box with cover.

Well if you have the Injen CAI and havn't Hydrolocket yet...then I woudn't worry about the AEM or other CAI. But there is always a chance that you might.

so far i am yet to see where any intake gets your noticeable hp or torque gains...driveability adn noise may benifit, but power....i think you are looking at looks as the only real benefit of any intake.

This tells why short rams are bad overall.

i would never go w cai bc of the chance of hydrolock

it is so easy, with a little bad luck and some rain

there goes a couple g's out of your wallet

just go with a regular intake with a nice filter, like k & n

1) no hydrock issues with comptech
2) K&N isn't that good of filter. Check out some of the post by Road Rage. The K&N filter lets in a lot of garbage.

Here is what i do. It is a little extra work but it keeps everything safe. I have a crappy short ram intake i use when it rains and the aem cold air for when all is ok outside. YOu only have to remove the top pipe because the bottum is held on by a mounting brace.

if you dremmel out the faux vent on the passenger's side, it will get cooler air. However, you are correct. Its not a true CAI.
