Doesn't the bypass valve restrict the intake and you end up negating any gains you would get from it.... I've read that on several threads.

I have read this too however have not seen any dyno runs to substantiate the claimed power loss. I have installed a few bypass valves and it's basically multiple rubber check valves covered with foam and I don't see how this could transfer any more heat than a metal intake. The valve cannot open by design unless the filter end of the intake is submerged in water.

If it is not exposed to engine heat it's a cold air intake.Therefor the comptech intake is a cold air intake. Becaues it gets its air from the right side fender.

I have had both. You can "feel" how restrictive the short ram is. When you mash the pedal, you dont move.

Get a short ram and see how it is. I have a spare generic one. You'll see how sorry it is.

CAI is the only way to go.

Guys,
I have a honda accord with an AEM V2 cold air intake. I have a K&N filter on the thing and i have driven it about 40 thousand miles without cleaning it because im lazy. I have driven it through swamps, puddles, tons of rain in snow here in Pittsburgh and never had hydrolocking or anything of that matter. i have driven up to about 2 feet of water before and have actually shut my car off and drifted through some because of fear of this. I just bought an s2k so now i guess i might go the same route with the AEM V2 but i dont want to pull my bumper apart.. How good is the K&N that sits mounted up by your engine? the one with the heat shield.

AEM V2s are sick, weve got one on my bros 97lude sh. Theyre nice and deep. Theres a filter/baggy like thing i forget what theyre called but you could slip one on there if youre worried about the water.

I would go with the K&N FIPK with the AUT cooling plate. Seems to be the best setup for the $$. Besides this setup I would go Mugen or a replica Mugen intake.

These look like good options with an upgraded filter on stock intake.

Nice setup

Or

Good idea
