Well, Dean. It sounds like you need to do some more reading before you buy this car. It's a niche car and if you need to try and convince yourself that you should get it, then you will likely not like some of the compromises you'll have to make.

To answer your questions:

1. There are no model year 99 cars. Starts in '00, although some may have been manufactured earlier. Watch out for the lack of clock and plastic rear window.

2. Servicing costs will be higher than other Hondas at the dealership, but cheaper if you do it yourself

3. I get around 20-22MPG combined city/highway with fairly consistent ... aggressive... driving.

4. That "screen in the dash" is the gauge cluster.

I really don't think the cabin is cold in the winter. The leather is chilly when you first get in, but since the S has such a small interior, it warms up very fast.

Thanks For the reply. I currently use a vauxhall VX220 (very similar to lotus elise) as a daily driver so i wouldnt be making any sacrifices moving to this!!! i will actually gain alot!!! Living in england i have to 'DE-ICE' the interior aswell as the exterior and the heaters are PANTS! TOO COLD!!!

Cars are advertised as 99 T reg/ V Reg????

20-22mpg doestn seem to bad, i already get approx 24mpg in the VX!

By 'gauge cluster' do u mean directly behind the steering wheel? Becuase what i have seen there is a screen in the centre of the car / dash! but it is not advertised as a car with Sat-Nav etc...?

Heres a link of the car i am looking at:

http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/www/c...00&max_mileage=

Thanks, Dean

scoop that car up, it looks good to me. the screen in the dash is your navigation, i beleive it was an option overseas. it also has the best ap1 wheels available imho.

I just bought a MY04 with 27K Miles and I love it. I recently changed the differential fluid and engine oil and it's almost like a brand new car. I usually average about 23 to 24 MPG in the city. Coming from a new owner, I say you should definitely get it.

That car has some nice extras...the nav and the JDM BBS wheels (lightest factory wheels you can get...fairly rare).

The heater is decent...or at least a hell of a lot better than my TR-4a heater!

Watch for the plastic rear window on that model year. If you put the top down in cold weather (55F or below) there is a good chance the plastic will crack.

Before I got gears, I would regularly see 24mpg city and 31 highway with simi-agressive driving (normally shifting at around 4-5k rpm).

VX220-->

Like Dean said, he'll gain function by getting an S2000.

I'd jump on the one on the ad. The heater is TOASTY.

also for the winter, a number of people here have modified the seats by inserting a seat heater. every report i've heard is very positive. there's a DIY walkthrough somewhere on the site.

and to look out for--wasnt there a 2-3 shift issue or something like that on some of the first few models? maybe someone with an older model can pipe in and say otherwise.

Cheers for the replies.

Unfortunately i found that the car is an import Meaning insurance company would have my eyes out

So the only real issue is the plastic window? Will look out for that!!

The search continues...
