S2000's are starting to pop up everywhere! So much for Honda's limited production run...
And that's why the first question from the average person is' "What's that UGLY thing (M-Coupe"?

With the S2 it's " Wow! what's that car" (as your parked between a Viper and Ferrari and a Hummer! This is a true statement from real ife experiences on both cars.

Enough said! Like I said b-4, M-Coupe- nice car but butt ugly. I have driven one (for an entire day of pleasure).

Umm, I don't think there was any honda bashing in my post!

I was making three points: 1. Honda ended up producing more S2000's then was originally speculated (more years and more per year), 2. At one point, seeing another S2000 was relatively uncommon; this is no longer true and 3. The M-coupe is still a rare beast.

Which one of those points do you disagree with?

I actually see quite a few M coupes here in the So Cal area. Everytime I see one, I always say, what an UGLY car.

The 'so much for' line seemed like a knock on Honda IMHO.

For the umph'teenth-million-time, Honda NEVER said they were only making the car for two years! AHM only initially agreed to import the car for two years (becuase they didn't want to get stuck with a high-priced Honda that wouldn't sell), and they had the option to extend that import agreement (which they did). I believe I read that before the car was ever even imported to the US! As for importing more, again Honda never said we're only going to export X number to the US (and that number would never increase). Their inital best guess of 5,000 was only a guess (and probably based on feedback from AHM -- who obviously didn't think the car would be as popular as it is). I don't blame Honda for deciding to import more to the US since the demand is obviously high. I still consider this car limited in production...for every one S2000 sold CY2000, Honda sold about 100 Civics and Accords.

I'm pretty careful what I write. I said "more than was originally speculated". That speculation was on the trade press and auto magazines, not Honda or American Honda. MANY car magazines talked about limited car production for limited years. Where do you think they got that "unofficial" information from? Did they all dream it up independently?

I NEVER expected or cared if the S2000 was some sort of collectors car, and certainly never expected appreciation in value. I just like unusual, not seen everyday cars, and the S2000 is becoming much less so.

Case in point: My first open track day, I was the only S2000 there, and most folks had never seen on before. Sunday, there was still only one S2000 out on the track (mine), but 6 others showed up to check things out... That was more than any other specific car model!
