Default should I buy an OEM hardtop ?

Some guy is selling an OEM hardtop in sebring silver with the hardware and stand for $2400 obo.

I've only had my S for a couple of weeks and as of now I don't even want the hardtop, but part of me is considering buying it just for the future...in case I want it later. Anybody out there think they absolutely didn't want a hardtop, but change their mind after a few years of ownership?

Bought an OEM hardtop & stand for my Suzuka for a similar price, about 8 months after buying the car. Really glad I did. I figured if I wasn't happy about it, I could sell it fast. IMO, no other hardtop looks nearly as nice as the OEM.

So you've used it then? Do a lot of people just like...put them on for the winter or something?

I'm still considering doing it...if I lived in a colder area it would probably be a no brainer.

worth trying out for yourself. Hardtops go fast, so you'll have no problems reselling it.

See...that's the thing, I live in southern California...so climate wise, it's always convertible season.

I'm thinking more a long the lines of the future. Spending 2000 for the top wouldn't break the bank...but I don't want to buy it if I certainly won't ever use it. I guess I'm trying to gauge long time owners' experiences. If anybody out there ever thought they would not want a hardtop...but later changed their mind.

you made a good point about if, God forbid, my top gets slashed. I'd probably want to leave a hardtop on it for a while if that were to happen. Until my wounds healed I guess.

Quite the opposite for me. I was sure I wanted a hardtop until I actually bought my S. YMMV. Figure out what you want and go with it rather than poll everyone else on what they want.
