Should I buy s2000 (Newbie)
Newbie here. Looks like a great site.
I am considering buying my neighbors 2000 Honda s2000 with 180k miles.
It has a new roof and was well cared for with all highway miles. She is taking to Carmax for a price and I can match it, but what is a fair price I should offer. It will need a clutch soon but it looks perfect in every way. Red with black roof.
TIA

damn that's a lot of miles. recently a member bought a 160k mile but mint 02 for 6k i believe (of course he got lucky i doubt they'll sell it for that much).
i think a fair offer would be around 7000 and work up to maybe 7500-8000 depending on how nice it is like you said. but with that much mileage i don't know if i would buy one. sounds like you want one just for the sake of owning one though, maybe give it more thought and buy one that's less miles/newer after saving up more.

umm i wouldnt pay more then 6-6500 for it. I just got a 2000 s2k with 103,000 miles on it and it has new clutch as of 2 months ago. he showed me the reciet. I paid $7290 after everything
I'm not too familiar with Carmax since I live in Canada, but if they are willing to take it off your neighbor's hands and you are matching their price, I would probably go for it. My reasoning behind my thought is worst case scenario, you could just sell it to them after having bought the car and not lose out on too much I would assume. But then again, like I said not too familiar with Carmax and how they operate.
