That happened to me on the same side. It was hit to the point where you could see the steel beam trying to expose itself. I went to two places to have it looked at and i asked like many here have suggested. Fix it, replace the skin or get a new door? Well, fix it, I did. Since getting a new door from Honda was out of the question because my insurance was not involved, replacing the skin was also out because both of the shop had said that the reseal of the skin would not be as strong as the factory seal. The beam was not bent and it was a a hard hit because my mom heard it and it was hit by my dad, on reverse, with our old ass legend going about 10-15mph. He also said he didn't see it and that I shouldn't parked it there, its been parked there since the first day I got the car for about 3 months anyways he paid for the bill. Sorry didn't mean it for being so long. I just need to let it out.

Opinions, opinions....here's the facts Jack!

"Door and bumper reinforcement beams used on Honda vehicles are made of metal equivalent to high stregth steel.

If high strength steel is heated, the strength of the steel will be reduced. If high strength steel is damaged, as in a vehicle accident, where the door and bumper reinforcement beams are bent, the beams may crack if an attempt is made to straighten them.

For this reason, door and bumper beams should NEVER be repaired; they should be replaced if they are damaged.

Note: If the door beam is damaged, the whole door panel assembly should be replaced".

If I was you I go beat the shit outta that door......

Yes I would agree that if the beam is bent the door shell should be replaced, but on the other hand if only the skin is damaged (which is what it sounds like by your description) then the question is repair or replace the skin. Depending on how consentrated the dent is and how deep it is would be the determining factors. I wouldn't be in such a hurry to replace the skin, the body shop must be very good at replacing the sealer and properly restoring the corrosion protection of the door. Door skin replacements can go very wrong and quickly when done by someone who doesn't follow all the procedures. They will start to rust around the inner edge if the shop doesn't use a weldable primer and use a quality sealer in the door jamb. Too many shops miss these details, they might look good at first but a year down the line you have a problem. And don't worry about factory parts, no insurance comp. would consider putting anything else but factory on this car. And to my knowledge there are no aftermarket doorskins anyway. And as far as "bondo" goes, plastic & polyester fillers have come light years in the last few years, enough so that most quality shops guarantee their workmanship for as long as you own the car, make sure you find one of these shops.
