Default Should I hold out for a white with red interior S?

Hey all,

I'm finally in the market to consider buying one of these things, and I thought I'd ask: how difficult do you think it'd be to find a white S2000 with a red interior? There are a few really interesting cars on the market in my area right now, and I don't want to sit around forever for something to pop up. I heard that this is a pretty rare combination, and my chances are probably way slimmer if I opt for a 2003...

Anyway, what do you guys think? Is it worth waiting for? How often do you see this combination?

If you are looking for a 2002 with all red interior remember only 327 were made, how many are left, and in good shape, is anyone's guess. Good luck in your search.

Do you want an AP1? As noted white with red is low production. Makes them scarce but only as "valuable" as the buyer thinks. There were only 272 MY2006 Silverstone with Black cars like mine so they're "rarer" than those 2002's you're considering and they're not even white.

I doubt I could live with an all-red interior very long and apparently buyers and dealers thought so as well since those numbers dropped dramatically even as overall S2000 sales were increasing. Red and black 2007 AP2 (over 500 imported) maybe?

Prepare for a long search unless you get lucky. In the interest of full disclosure color wasn't even on my priority list when looking for a S2000 two years ago. Condition and mileage and DBW were at the top of the list.

White with full red was only available in 2002. 2003 only had white and tan.

There was one in Indiana recently.

If you gpw with all red is what you want you won't be happy unless that is what you get. I have bb with all red and I absolutely love it and it is my favorite thing about my car. Not everyone likes the all red but not everyone is buying the car for you do what you want. I know the later model ap2s were available with red Interior meaning red dash I'm not sure what else is red but I do believe most of the interior is red do some research.

As an ex gpw/all red owner, I wouldn't suggest you wait or pay a premium for one. I'd take new formula red or laguna blue over gpw any day.

here's the full break down on production numbers and color combos: https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/739...media-archive/

it's tough to be too picky on color when shopping for a used car. when i was looking for my '02-'03 i prioritized my top few choices and then considered the "maybe" colors and eliminated the "no way" colors. it's obviously a very subjective thing asking what the best color is, but mine were:

yes: black, white, red

maybe: grey, blue

no: yellow, silver

i'd say condition of the car is the most important thing as long as the color fits in your "yes" or "maybe" category.

I'd start with the GPW in the condition you always wanted (if thats #1 priority) and at the right price and swap interior panels or throw on Clazzio seat covers if necessary. It will be difficult to hit all the wants in one car as these are getting rarer as time passes.

That was my plan. I wanted a GPW above all but found a Berlina 08 with less than 1,600 miles a few years back and everything went out the window. But my dream of black/red interior came true once I threw on UK red mats, Clazzio seat covers, and swapped black/red door panels for my black ones. And some other goodies that made it my own hehe...

A GPW with red interior is probably the most in demand color combination there is. Expect to pay a premium, even more than a beautiful Laguna blue (which comes with a black interior) and is only found in the 2006 or 2007 model.

Personally my favorite five colors regularly seen on U.S. models are:

1) Apex Blue--(only on CR models)
2) Laguna Blue (2006-2009)
3) New Formula Red (AP1's and AP2's?)
4) Rio Yellow Pearl (AP2's only)
5) Grand Prix White (AP1's and AP2's)

I guess I'm less fond of the "unicorn" color than many others, Chicane Silver I may potentially like better than GPW as that would likely be my next choice, but there's so many different looks it isn't always about just the color. Condition matters more as was pointed out above, I'd definitely take a clean looking Suzuka Blue over a dirty, beat up Apex or Laguna Blue. BB looks awesome when just detailed, but I've already owned two black cars in the past and know all too well about swirls and how hard they are to keep clean! Which goes again to say more important than a specific color, a clean car looks best. I think for that reason if daily driving, silverstone is a safe choice and is a big part of why I wasn't so picky with color when purchasing, more so condition and price.

I love my 2002 white with the full red interior. Its the best color combo. But the are hard to find. There made a lot of white with red/black interior but the white with full red/red dash was only made in 2002.
