Should i keep or sell my car?


I just got it used certified w/ 48k miles a few months ago, and the miles are stacking up,

I drive about 200miles on weekend to commute back home, and drive 4 miles to work

on the weekdays (8 mile commute round trip),


I love the car, but seems like during those 4 miles, the car doesn't get warmed up fully, and on the long commute on the weekends, it might as well use a beater, not a nice s2000,

what are your thoughts?

Best would be to get a beater car, but I only want one car because insurance is costly,

I know it's my decision, but i just wanted some opinions


I was also thinking, maybe getting a higher mileage ap1 so I can just rack up the miles and wouldn't mind as much,

I daily drive mine basically to and from work.. like 4 miles. When I get off work I go for a cruise and really enjoy it. I've never not looked forward to driving my S. It's an absolute blast everytime I hit that Start button - even if gas prices are high I don't care, I will drive it.

Just to let you know with concerns to insurance, I have my s2000 and a 1985 toyota pickup. Pretty much, my offroad beast and my beauty. It is actually cheeper to insure both than it is to just insure the S2000. As long as it is a beater and you just insure it for liability you will most likely save money. Call your insurance and see what it would be for a few older cars and see what it would do to your insurance. Take care.

^ Too many peeps on the board have sold their S's and regretted it. Some even bought the same one back! Keep it unless you are absolutely sure of your decision. If you can find a way to handle the insurance.

Mate its an S2000 not a Ferrari, have some fun with it and dont worry about the value.

I have a '94 beater accord and it averages out to about $18/month to insure it with liability on the same policy as my s, which has full coverage.

If you're worried about racking up the miles adding a beater is the way to go, but I too love my s and dd it unless it's torrential downpour or snowing.

Agreed.

Especially if you tell them its a pleasure vehicle that you put limited miles on - will get you a multi car discount, and a low mileage discount for your S.

200 + 8*5 = 240 miles / wk
240 miles/wk * 52 weeks = 12480 miles/yr

12500 miles a year isn't that much.


but if it bugs you, i'd get a beater and keep the S as a 'nice' and fun car.
