Should I remove the heatshield

Here is a thought, take off the ETD. If that is not an option for you, install it like the instructions say. I am sure they instructions make it so it doesn't cause problems with other systems of your car.

WTF caused the OEM heatshield to rub through your A/C line?

well the spoon heatshield which is really just an oem with a hole cut out....but the placement of the line was wrong....i now have the line raised since it was replaced....but still got rid of the heatshield....some foil tape on the fuse box, and right front brake line should do...maybe even some on the ac high pressure line
