Default Should I be worried?

Dear S2000 owners, I need your honest advice.

I live in Canada and I have been looking for a good used S2000 locally. There aren't that many to choose from unlike the ones I see listed in various ads South of the border. I have a 2007 lined up in LA but the problem is, which I found out today when I called Honda Canada, that they will not recognize any of the new car warranties. So should I:

1) buy a S2000 from the states with low mileage and take the risk of having no warranties

2) buy locally and pay 50% more for a lesser car

I am hoping that with the reliability of the car I can go with option 1. What would you do???? I could buy a older model year for less money from the States but I would like to have the stability control option of the newer models.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Anthony

In your position I would probably go with option 1, seeing as the s2000 is pretty reliable, just make sure you keep up with preventive maintenance, and you should be fine for a good amount of time.

If it costs 50% more to buy one in Canada, it would still be cheaper to get one from the US and pay out of pocket if anything went wrong. The S2000 is a reliable car so I wouldn't be too worried about not having a warranty. I bought an 02 last year and it had no warranty. I have had no issues so far.

I've had my 02 since new, only things replaced under warranty were spark plugs and a window regulator. Just be sure you to follow the routine maintainance schedule. Good luck finding what you want.

If you plan on modifying it in a way that could void the warranty anyway, you might as well go with the S2000 from the U.S.

U.S.A! U.S.A!

Sorry, I get carried away sometimes...

If you're a car guy, don't sweat the warranty too much: you'll fix it yourself pretty cheaply if something goes wrong. If you're not, think long and hard on this decision.

I went with option 1 myself! Where are you from?

Also, what do you mean 50% more for a lesser car? You mean for an older S2000?

Definately option 1. Besides scheduled maintenance like fluid changes there isnt much you have to do till 70,000 or so when the valve adjustment and clutch might need replacing. But even that wont cost more than 1,000.
